Sara McDaniel (Yonk) is a digital artist who conjures squishy dreamscapes from neural networks and internet folklore. Her animations are uncanny creatures—post-human forms that squirm between biology and CGI gloss. A former model turned artist, McDaniel channels her fascination with embodiment into immersive worlds that feel alive yet alien.
Her works have been exhibited at Pictoplasma and DEMO Festival and commissioned by Google, Meta, Spotify, Nike, and The New York Times. Yonk’s art feels like stepping into a liquid dream—playful yet unsettling—a reflection of identity in flux within the digital ether.

When we are inspired, our bodies produce more serotonin and dopamine. It’s the moment when logic turns off. Inspiration originates in a specific area in the human brain: it lives in the superior temporal sulcus, roughly under our right ear. When inspiration hits, it looks like peaks of gamma rays in the brain, which are anticipated by a “flash” of waves in the visual cortex, in the back of the head.

During rest, the brain is restored: memories are formed in the hippocampus, and cerebrospinal fluid passes through the nervous tissue, “cleansing” the brain. It can be observed ripples in the hippocampus - high-frequency oscillatory events important for memory formation.

During orgasm, almost the entire brain is active. However, in some areas of the brain, activity is still reduced. This is the lateral orbitofrontal cortex, which is responsible for controlling behavior. Deactivation of control occurs only during orgasm. So far, no other activity has been found that causes a similar effect.
